the anxious question arises: what if someone steals my story? This concern is not unfounded, as the economic damage caused by copyright infringements amounted to an estimated 680 million euros across Germany in 2012, although other studies arrive at different figures. The number of unreported cases is likely to be much higher: Because even in the<\/p>\n

is copied from small to large without consideration, there is hardly any awareness of wrongdoing among users. Even in our publishing houses, we regularly receive manuscripts that contain images and texts by other authors from the Internet for which no rights have been obtained - even though the laws are clear. And the<\/p>\n

Artificial intelligence<\/strong><\/p>\n

generates answers based on large amounts of data that have been used illegally. This also applies to millions of pirated copies of books that have been illegally scanned and used for AI training. In a Court decision in California\u2197 <\/sup><\/a>it was found that not only were over 7 million pirated books used for this purpose - in addition, \u00bbmillions of physical books\u00ab were purchased, ripped open and digitized page by page.<\/p>\n

And then there's the case, that you have to defend yourself<\/strong>, because someone thinks you've copied from them. Very few people think about that. There are simple solutions that are very inexpensive in relation to the damage that can be done.<\/p>\n
